12:00 pm - 3:00 pm
Join us for an afternoon of sourdough bread with the delightful Owen Petervine. Owen was previously the head baker and owner of Prairie Mill Bread in Riverbend, but nowadays he has turned his attention to distilling gin with his newest venture, Greenwood Distillers in Sundry. At the start of your class, Owen will bake off some bread for you to sample as he introduces you to the world of sourdough starters. Then you will make your own loaf of sourdough with Owen, choosing the flour combination of your choice, and take it home with you to bake. And when you’re not working on that loaf, we’ll be showing you how to prepare panzanella, as well as a seasonal soup to accompany Owen’s freshly baked loaves. Then for dessert, Owen will teach you to make his sourdough waffles, served up with maple syrup. You’ll leave us with all the knowledge you need to feed and use your starter on your own, since you’ll be taking home a jar of Owen’s sourdough starter too. And as we bake, we’ll be mixing up a drink or two featuring Owen’s own Roundabout Gin!
Class Fee: $115 per person, plus GST. Your Fee Includes: a 3-hour hands on cooking class, a full meal with drink pairings, and a recipe pack, unbaked loaf and sourdough starter to take home.
