Halloween is all about Family Fun. So we’ve created this new online class for an engaging Halloween activity for you and your kids. And the results will be spookily delicious! Elyse will walk you through baking a pan of Red Velvet Cake, then crumbling it up to mix with a Vanilla Buttercream to form cake pops that you’ll decorate with her to create your own Creepy Cake Pops to share with your cohort this year!
Ingredients for Creepy Cake Pops*: red velvet cake, vanilla icing OR cream cheese icing (for a less sweet cake pop), 200g white candy melts, 1 tbsp vegetable shortening, white fondant, food colour gels, fine tip brush(es), optional: candy eyes, smarties, ready-made icing tubes, green candy melts (can be used as eye balls instead of fondant), Halloween colored sprinkles, pre-colored fondant icing
Ingredients for Red Velvet Cake*: 150g all purpose flour, 1 tbsp cocoa powder, 1 tsp bicarbonate of soda, 50g unsalted butter, 150g sugar, 1 large egg, 1 tsp vanilla extra, 100 ml buttermilk, 50 ml neutral oil (i.e. grapeseed or canola), 1 tsp white wine or apple cider vinegar, 1 tbsp red gel food colouring, salt, round paper lollypop sticks
Ingredients for Vanilla Buttercream*: 75g unsalted butter, 150g icing sugar, 1/2 tsp vanilla extract, 1 tbsp milk
Ingredients for Cream Cheese Icing*: 100g slightly salted butter, 225g icing sugar, 100 g full fat cream cheese
* Please note that we will be discussing potential substitutions for ingredients during your class.
Class Fee: $25.00 plus GST (pricing is per device and allows multiple participants to attend using a single device). What’s Included: A 90 minute virtual cooking class including a virtual recipe pack with info on equipment needed. Your recipes will be delivered in advance, so you can shop for ingredients and cook along with us during your class if you wish.
Software Requirement: We are using Zoom for our virtual classes. If you aren’t already using Zoom you can download their free app for Windows, Mac, Android or Apple iOS here. Upon purchase, your meeting ID and password will be included in your Event Confirmation email – please be sure to save this information as you will need it to join your class.

Once downloaded Zoom will help you set up your free account then you’re ready to join us. Zoom will prompt you and ask for permission to use your devices camera and audio, please accept the requests. Once logged in click “Join” from the home page and enter your Meeting ID, which will be sent to you by email with your recipes.
