Elephant Island Winery: Chardonnay. A Tasting & Behind the Scenes Visit. Virtually

Get Cooking

For this second edition of our new Winery Series sommelier Sasha McCauley will be taking us to Elephant Island Winery in the Naramata Bench in BC to meet winemaker Del Halladay together with Assistant Winemaker and Vineyard Magician Lauren Bunckle to taste with them a selection of their Chardonnays. Del and his wife and partner Miranda founded  the winery in 1999, and have since had four kids, added a couple of farms, and spent 21 years experimenting with fermentation. They craft wines of character, wines that sing with the unconventional voice of vanguard fruit, and wines that are balanced by a reverence for traditional winemaking practices. Their wines are rooted in and inspired by family tradition. We hope that you will join us for this intimate opportunity to meet the people behind the wines and to interact with the stories that they have to share. Lauren will be joining us from the Sideshow Hill Vineyard, showing us the vineyard site, and Del will be situated in the cellar, speaking to all the nuances of barrel and winemaking.

During your winery visit, the team at Get Cooking will be preparing two dishes to pair with your wines. We’ll start with Gougères, then follow with our localized version of a Waldorf Salad. And if you prefer to prepare your own food pairings, we will be providing a list of recommended dishes too.

ORDER YOUR CHARDONNAY: To order your This Way, That Way and the Other Way Chardonnay 3-box selection direct from the vineyard go here. Your wines will be shipped to you direct.

Class Fee: $20 plus GST. We recommend gathering together a group of family or friends to share your tasting experience. Your $20 class fee will cover your entire group for the tasting but we recommend using multiple devices to personalize and get the most out of your tasting. Your Fee Includes: A 90-120 minute virtual tasting and behind the scenes visit, with an integrated cooking demonstration. Your recipe will be delivered in advance, so you can shop for ingredients and cook along with us during your class if you wish.
