Have you ever wondered what a “cabane à sucre” (or sugar shack) is? Join us and we’ll fill you in! An Alberta style sugar shack meal is no small affair, so you should be fully prepared to indulge in a rich, delicious and maple-laden meal that will leave you both full, and absolutely satisfied!
Your Sugar Shack Dinner Farm adventure will start at 4pm with our Manitoba Maple sap tapping (weather allowing). Then we’ll look at how to simmer the sap to make our own Alberta maple syrup!
Next we’ll head to the Fire Roasters Pavilion for our appetizer, a fire roasted Albertan version of Poutine, featuring Cheese Curds from Sylvan Star Cheese.
Dinner will be served in the Green House, and following Cabane à Sucre tradition we’ll be serving you a hearty bowl of Yellow Pea and Irvings Farm Ham Hock Soup as well as our homemade Tourtière, served with a Prairie Gardens Salad and Saskatoon Berry Ketchup. And between course you’ll have the opportunity to join Tam and her team to learn how to make a Maple Sugar rub.
Our full menu is in the works and coming soon. You can be sure that maple syrup will be featured throughout. And as always, our menu will feature produce grown or foraged at Prairie Gardens. Any proteins will be locally and sustainably raised or sourced.
Event Fee: $100 per person, plus GST. Your Fee Includes: Appies in the Fire Roasters Pavilion followed by a 4-course meal in the Greenhouse. Additional activities (Maple Tapping and making a Maple Sugar Rub) are included in the price. (Please note that Maple Tapping is subject to the weather since it is temperature dependent – if the weather doesn’t cooperate we will substitute an alternative farm activity).
A menu of optional wine pairings will be available for purchase on the night.
