Join Brooke and Jamie to unlock the mysteries of vegan cheese. Learn to make your own delicious vegan cheese full of health promoting probiotics, fatty acids and protein with no lactose or cholesterol and at a fraction of the cost of buying it. We will prepare you with the know-how to make three flavorful cashew-based cheeses: a blue style, a French cream (Boursin) style, and a cheddar style cheese. Whilst not difficult, the process for making these cheeses requires some patience, as it can take up to a week from start to finish.

In this class we will explain and demonstrate each step in detail, as well as provide you with written instructions and access to the recorded class to refer to later. Save yourself the trouble of tracking down all the ingredients by ordering our starter kit. It includes all the ingredients you’ll need (except filtered water and lemon juice) to make 350 g of each cheese for $35. Kits ordered by Tuesday October 20th can be picked up at Get Cooking on Wednesday October 21 or Thursday October 22nd between 4 pm and 6 pm, Saturday October 24 between 3pm to 5pm  or shipped for an additional fee. 

Cashew Cheese Shopping List*: dried lentils (or quinoa, brown rice, millet, rye or wheat berries), raw unsalted cashews, nutritional yeast, refined coconut oil, miso paste (white or brown), Achiote powder or paste, agar powder, xanthan gum, spirulina, mustard powder, onion powder, garlic powder, lemon juice,  sea salt,  gloves fresh gloves, fresh or dried herbs

* We will be discussing potential substitutions for ingredients during your class

Class Fee: $25.00 plus GST (pricing is per device and allows multiple participants to attend using a single device). Your Fee Includes: A 90 minute virtual cooking class plus a recipe pack including info on equipment needed. Upon purchase, your meeting ID and password will be included in your Event Confirmation email – please be sure to save this information as you will need it to join your class.

Software Requirement: We are using Zoom for our virtual classes. We use Zoom for our online classes. If you aren’t already using Zoom you can download their free app for Windows, Mac, Android or Apple iOS here.

Once downloaded Zoom will help you set up your free account then you’re ready to join us. Zoom will prompt you and ask for permission to use your devices camera and audio, please accept the requests. Once logged in click “Join” from the home page and enter your Meeting ID, which will be sent to you by email with your recipes.
